* Due to storm force winds the event was not able to tale place as planned. The workshops took place at a later date with local community organisations and the fire sculptures were lit with a small invited audience.

Part 1 - Allasdale

 

Making Through Walking :

Creative Encounters with Your Surroundings.

Led by Uist based artists, Tara Drummie and Calum MacKinnon Ferguson. 11am - 1pm

This workshop will take place over a period of walking on Allasdale machair, where participants will collect memories of place through observations, sketching, expressive mark making, writing, and actions. 

Back to the Broch :

Linking the personal with the archaeological.

Led by local artist Sheena Beaton. 1.30pm - 2.30pm

A writing session at Dùn Cuithir where participants will work from a series of prompts exploring memory, landscape, and personal history. 

Part 2 - Gàradh a' Bhàgh a' Tuath

 

Performance - Còisir Ghàidhlig Bharraigh. 2.45pm - 3.15

 

A collaborative artwork session with artists Tara Drummie, Calum MacKinnon Ferguson and Sheena Beaton.

Using techniques such as mark making, printmaking, and collage to produce individual and collaborative pieces of art and writing. 3.30pm - 5pm   


Homemade Soups, refreshments, home baking. 5pm - 6pm


Traditional uses of plants in the Highlands and Islands:

Talk by Professor Margaret Bennett. 6pm - 7pm


Music from Joanie & Michael Garvin + friends. 7pm - 8pm

 

Fire Scupture Lighting accompanied by Barra & Vatersay Pipers,  Borve Machair. 8pm
